MOSCOW, August 17 — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held official talks with Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, in Moscow today. Minister Ablakwa is currently in Russia on a working visit.
During the discussions, the ministers reviewed the current state and future prospects of Russian-Ghanaian relations, covering political, trade, economic, and energy sectors. They explored avenues for diversifying bilateral business partnerships and advancing joint projects in energy, agriculture, mineral exploration, and development.
The two ministers also prioritized regional security, focusing on the need for political and diplomatic solutions to conflicts in Africa. They emphasized the importance of African nations playing a central role in these processes, with support from the broader international community.
Additionally, the officials discussed strengthening policy coordination within the United Nations and other multilateral forums. The Russian side reaffirmed its commitment to deepening cooperation with Ghana on pressing international issues of mutual interest.
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to preparations for the upcoming third Russia-Africa Summit, which is scheduled to take place in Moscow in October.
