Tubmanburg, Bomi County – Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe, Jr. has announced the launch of the 2026 edition of his annual Vacation Job Program, a short-term employment initiative set to benefit over 400 junior and senior high school students across Bomi County’s five administrative districts.
According to a press release from the Senator’s office, the program is designed to alleviate financial burdens on families by helping students offset costs associated with enrollment and educational supplies for the upcoming 2026/2027 academic year.
“This initiative is a direct investment in our youth and their families,” said Harry A. Ragland, Chief of Staff to Senator Snowe. “By providing this opportunity, we aim to ease some of the financial pressures of the back-to-school season while keeping students engaged in productive work.”
The program will be officially launched on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in Cooper Town, Suehn Mecca District. Following the launch, student recruitment and selection exercises will take place in schools throughout the county from Wednesday, August 26, to Saturday, August 29, 2026.
Selected students will be assigned to community-based work projects within their respective neighborhoods or schools. The assignments will span five consecutive days, with participants working two hours per day under the guidance of designated program coordinators.
The Vacation Job Program is part of Senator Snowe’s broader commitment to youth empowerment and human capital development in Bomi County. Beyond providing financial relief, the initiative encourages students to remain active and engaged during the academic break while developing a strong work ethic.
