First Neurocontent Cup and Anti-Fake Championship draw over 40,000 applicants as young creators and fact-checkers test their digital skills
The International Youth Festival 2026 in Yekaterinburg became the stage for a significant convergence of technology and critical thinking, as the Presidential Platform “Russia – Land of Opportunities” announced the winners of its “First Neurocontent Cup” and “Anti-Fake Championship.” The events, held on the first day of the festival at the “Yekaterinburg-EXPO” venue, highlighted the dual pillars of modern digital literacy: the ability to create content using artificial intelligence and the capacity to critically evaluate the information we consume.
The competitions drew massive interest, with more than 40,000 people submitting applications to participate in the projects. Ultimately, about 200 finalists took part in the events, engaging in team and individual tasks that mirrored the demands of the contemporary media landscape. Participants in the “First Neurocontent Cup” worked collaboratively on creative video assignments, while those in the “Anti-Fake Championship” worked individually to verify news, photos, and video materials for authenticity.
At the “First Neurocontent Cup,” teams were challenged to prepare videos based on specific thematic cases within a limited timeframe. In the case titled “Neuroexcursion: Ural Character in Motion,” teams used generative graphics to bring the works of Ural artists and craftsmen—such as Kasli casting and traditional painting—to life through short cinematic stories. The winners in this category were the KRASAVIN AI STUDIO from Moscow (1st place), Neuroschool from Yaroslavl (2nd place), and Alexey Mazikhin and Anastasia Otinova from Perm (3rd place).
The second case, “Fairy Tales Without Borders,” brought together characters from the folklore of different peoples. Teams created videos where these heroes met at the International Youth Festival or overcame challenges together, demonstrating how differences can become a common strength. The top honors in this category went to the KMG team from Moscow (1st place), the Semeyka PK team from the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (2nd place), and the NEURO_3 team from Moscow (3rd place).
Mikhail Gusev, Marketing Director of the Presidential Platform “Russia – Land of Opportunities,” emphasized the broader significance of the events. “Today, it is not enough to simply know how to use neural networks – it is important to understand what and why we create with their help,” Gusev noted. He described the two competitions as “two sides of the same digital literacy,” representing the creation of meaningful content and the verification of facts to separate truth from manipulation.
The winning team of the “First Neurocontent Cup” received a contract with the ANO “Development of Artificial Intelligence Technologies” for the production of socially significant content worth 500,000 rubles. Gennady Guryanov, Director of the ANO, highlighted the unique global nature of the format, noting that the stage at the International Youth Festival is a stepping stone to the international level, with a hackathon involving foreign countries planned for November.
The “Anti-Fake Championship” tasked finalists with distinguishing reliable information from fiction and manipulation. Participants analyzed publications on social networks and checked image details to identify emotional manipulation and inconsistencies. The winners were Snezhnytskaya Sofya from Nizhny Novgorod (1st place), Sargsyan Artem from St. Petersburg (2nd place), and Larionov Vladimir from Tyumen (3rd place).
Speaking to festival guests, Ivan Serov, Project Manager at ANO “Dialogue Regions,” warned that the development of technology is making the creation of fakes—such as deepfakes—easier than ever. He stressed that the ability to find digital artifacts and verify materials is now a necessary skill not only for professional fact-checkers but for all ordinary users.
The “First Neurocontent Cup” is implemented by the Presidential Platform “Russia – Land of Opportunities” together with the Internet Development Institute and the ANO “Development of Artificial Intelligence Technologies.” The “Anti-Fake Championship” is organized by the Presidential Platform alongside the fact-checking project “Lapsha Media.” Both events formed part of the International Youth Festival, which runs from September 11 to 17, 2026, under the motto “Follow Your Dream,” bringing together 10,000 young leaders from 191 countries.
