The Second Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Hon. Adjaratou Traore Coulibaly made the pledge in her remarks at the closing ceremony of the delocalised meeting of the joint Committees on Health / Education, Science and Culture / Telecommunications and Information Technology / Industry and Private Sector in Conakry, Republic of Guinea.

The meeting which was on the theme, “Promoting health services and education in the West African region: role of the ECOWAS Parliament”, came to an end with members of parliament amongst other things resolving to ensure sensitization of the people of the sub-region though the use of information and communication technology to reach even the rural communities.

She said that in the course of deliberations, fundamental issues on ICT for the West African region were raised, and actions plan to promote education and health services with solutions proffered and commitment to existing practices.

The lawmaker emphasized the importance of technology and telecommunication in achieving the desired health and education services but reminded the member states of the need to tackle the issue of infrastructure, which greatly hinders information dissemination in the sub-region.

She urged all the members of parliament to transmit the declarations of the delocalised meeting to their heads of states and heads of government as their commitment and political will is key to the success of the objectives of transforming the lives of the people.

The Second Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament earlier appreciated the co-chairs of the joint committees for their leadership, collaborations and partnership as well as the joint committee members for taking their time to deliberate and come up with resolutions and recommendations that will advance the course of a healthy life for the community citizens.
