The Community Parliament’s Committee chairman on Political Affairs, Peace, Security and African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe Jr. is on his way to attend the 149th Assembly of the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva Switzerland.
The five days Assembly meeting starts on Sunday, October 13, 2024, and ends on Thursday, October 17, 2024.
Chairman Snowe Jr. will be attending the Standing Committee meeting on Peace and International Security which will have a panel discussion on the role of parliamentarians in preventing conflicts over natural resources and the role of parliamentarians in nuclear security.
Other members of the Community Parliaments delegation are the Rt. Hon Memounatou Ibrahima Speaker of the Community Parliament, Hon Moussokura Chantal Fanny, Hon Soklingbe Senou, Ag. Secretary General, K. Bertin Some and director of Parliamentary Affairs Kabeer Garba.
Meanwhile, whiles transiting through Accra, Ghana on Thursday, October 10, 2024, Chairman of the Political Affairs, Senator Edwin M. Snowe Jr. attended a meeting of the West African Elders Forum, under the Chairmanship of former Nigerian President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.
The discussions focused on current political developments in the West African Sub-region and provided in-depth insights into efforts to consolidate regional peace and stability.
According to him on his Facebook post, it was a privilege to share platform with former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Interim President of Mali, Dioncounda Traore, former Vice President of The Gambia, Madam Fatoumata Jallow-Tambajang, former Prime Minister of Burkina Faso, Dr Mahamoud Ouedraogo, former President of ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas and off course our own, the legend herself, President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, the Nobel Laureate, he added.
