Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the Second Vice President of the Pan-African Parliament, has clarified that she will continue to serve in her role at the continental legislative body until the next parliamentary session, when she is expected to officially resign.
However, her resignation is contingent upon the Appointment Committee of Ghana recommending her ministerial nomination for approval during plenary.
Dr Agyeman-Rawlings appeared before the Committee on Thursday, August 27, 2026, for vetting following her nomination by President John Dramani Mahama as Minister-designate for Environment, Science, and Technology.
The Chairman of the Appointment Committee, who also serves as the Leader of Ghana’s delegation to the Pan-African Parliament, further explained that the rules permit her to formally tender her resignation only after the House approves her nomination.
