I am glad to be in Accra, Ghana, with young people from Bomi County who have joined me to observe the ongoing Second Extraordinary Session of the ECOWAS Parliament.
Seeing students Anita Oliver and Roselyn Zinnah actively serving as support staff during the session was particularly inspiring. Watching them engage, learn, and contribute in a regional parliamentary environment reinforces my belief that when we expose our young people to opportunities, we help broaden their horizons, build their confidence, and prepare them for greater responsibilities.
Also, Anita Vincent, a daughter of Bomi County, is a wonderful example of what exposure can do. I previously had the opportunity to take her to Nigeria, where she was able to gain experience, build relationships, and expand her network. Today, I am particularly proud that through the network she developed from that exposure, she was directly recruited by the ECOWAS Parliament to serve as ad-hoc staff for this session. For me, this is exactly what creating opportunities for our young people should be about opening a door today that can enable them to open other doors for themselves tomorrow.
Seeing Anita and Roselyn actively involved gives me even greater motivation to do more, not only for the youths of Bomi County, but for young Liberians generally.
Our young people are our future. Let us continue to create opportunities for them to learn, serve, experience new environments, build meaningful networks, and prepare themselves for the responsibilities of tomorrow.
Every opportunity we give a young person today is an investment in the Liberia we hope to see tomorrow.
