On September 11, 2025, a round table titled “Heirs of Russian Military Glory” was held in Hall No. 4 of the State Budgetary Institution of the City of Moscow “Moscow House of Nationalities” (hereinafter referred to as the MHD) and via video conference. The event was organized by the Commission on Public Security and People’s Diplomacy of the Council for Nationalities under the Government of Moscow.

The event was attended by participants of the Special Military Operation, representatives of the scientific and pedagogical community, commissions of the Council for Nationalities under the Government of Moscow, public organizations, as well as cultural figures.

The moderator was Alexander Fyodorovich Berdnikov, Chairman of the Commission on Public Security and People’s Diplomacy of the Council for Nationalities under the Government of Moscow, Executive Secretary of the Russian-African Club at Lomonosov Moscow State University, Candidate of Legal Sciences. He noted that the round table is dedicated to the heroes and participants of the SMO and is held on the eve of the opening of the exhibition “Officers – Kremlin Cadets – Heroes of the SMO” at the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School. A catalog of the exhibition dedicated to former cadets who died during the SMO has been prepared.

The welcoming speech was delivered by the Director of the MHD, Sergey Sergeyevich Anufrienko. He expressed special respect to the participants of the Special Military Operation present at the round table and emphasized that servicemen in the SMO zone are performing crucial tasks, ensuring a peaceful life not only for today but also for future generations. Sergey Sergeyevich also noted that the “Moscow House of Nationalities” implements projects related to supporting servicemen and is hosting the exhibition “Courage. Bravery. Heroism,” dedicated to the heroes of the Special Military Operation.

The following individuals participated in the round table and delivered presentations: Mikhail Mikhailovich Yakushev, First Secretary of the Historical and Documentary Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Acting Head of the Section for International Cooperation and Cultural Exchange of the “Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society,” Candidate of Historical Sciences; Nikolai Alekseevich Sologubovsky, journalist, writer, orientalist, full member of the International Public Organization “Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society”; Eduard Olegovich Shabunevich, Executive Director of the “Christian Charity” Foundation; Alexey Andreevich Kuznetsov, Head of the Department of the Research Institute (Military History) of the Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Colonel, Candidate of Historical Sciences; Irina Alexandrovna Sosunova, Vice-President of the Russian Society of Sociologists, Doctor of Sociological Sciences; representatives of the Russian Public Organization “Suvorov Brotherhood,” participants of the Special Military Operation – Alexander Yuryevich Babich, Nikolai Sergeyevich Ogurtsov, Artur Akopovich Akopyan; Anna Olegovna Gonek, President of the Foundation for Supporting Persons with Disabilities of the Musculoskeletal System “Preodeley-ka,” coordinator of the program “Higher School of Movement on the Prosthesis by Evgeny Yelkin”; Yuri Viktorovich Moskovsky, Chairman of the Commission on Migration Issues of the Council for Nationalities under the Government of Moscow, Director of the Forecast Information and Analytical Center and projects of the “Good Neighbors” Foundation; Viktor Vladimirovich Varlamov, architect, composer, performer of songs, public figure; Inga Anatolyevna Koryagina, Associate Professor of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, Ph.D. in History, UNDP Expert on International Development, Director of International Development of the Russian-African Club of Lomonosov Moscow State University.

The round table and subsequent discussion addressed issues such as the importance of preserving military traditions and passing them on to the younger generation, and the role of outstanding Russian diplomats and military leaders such as Nikita Ivanovich Repnin and Mikhail Illarionovich Kutuzov.

Experts were unanimous in the opinion that the topic of the heritage of Russian military glory is relevant for patriotic education and the study of the history of the people’s feats in the name of defending the Motherland. Participants emphasized that Glory is not just a word, but a living fire passed down from generation to generation. Heirs must remember the names of great commanders and understand what stood behind the victories.

The discussion included graduates of the Suvorov Military School who created the Public Organization “Suvorov Brotherhood.” The organization strives to help graduates and their families, especially those who have lost a breadwinner. Meeting participants shared personal stories, including participation in the Special Military Operation and assistance to victims. They also noted the importance of faith and support in difficult times.

During the meeting, a video presentation of the “Preodeley-ka” Charity Foundation was shown, detailing assistance to people with musculoskeletal disorders, including those using prosthetics. After the start of the SMO, the foundation began working with young people affected by mine-explosive injuries. The author’s program of physical rehabilitation “Higher School of Movement on the Prosthesis by Evgeny Yelkin” has been created and is conducted at a studio in Moscow.

Participants noted the high motivation and patriotism of the soldiers, which evokes pride in their country and a desire to support servicemen also through creativity, for example, poetry and songs.

In conclusion, Alexander Fyodorovich expressed gratitude to those present for the interesting and important discussion. Participants agreed on further interaction and resolving issues related to the Special Military Operation.
